This could be a dumb question, but the neighbor called yesterday all excited that our local phone carrier had called saying that high speed internet would be available in our rural area. She said they said they would have to come out to her house and do something to her modem, then charge her a installation fee, plus she would get billed every month on her phone bill. We currently have dial up, and I guess my qusetion is how does fast speed internet work? Is it thru a phone line? They told her that it would not tie up her phone, and would be on 24/7. I just wonder how it all works, could there be hidden charges somewhere? Too good to be true?
