In early June i am planning a little trip. i'm going to go down to hayes center nebraska and stop at a couple places inbetween. then go south thru kansas into oklahoma to see a couple places. from there i was going to turn west and angle back up towards denver and then home. i was curious if anyone had any suggestions for places to see... maybe some hereford herds i'd never heard of. thanks.

Where are you planning to go in Oklahoma?

originally this trip was to go look at cattle i sent down into oklahoma a few years back. i have always wanted to go and see pollestad herefords in ND and visit dvoraks in sd. but there was some et calves born in nebraska that has really got me motivated to do all this. so i thought maybe i'd just go look at some places like keg herefords, bookcliff herefords, maybe moon herefords, the dewall place, the day place, even lents deal. go back west and maybe see whats left of ochs herd(just to see what all those big old canadian bulls i watched him buy left them for a cowherd), maybe colemans on the way home. there are a few others but i thought maybe someone might have some suggestions. i'm mostly interested in looking at cattle i don't have any experience with. i don't mean anything bad by this but not really interested in spending much time looking at L1 herds that are derivatives of the montana herds or for that matter herds that are canadian bred unless they have something unique... like pollestads - curious to see what canadian and hazlett lines look like together. like to hear suggestions

No Canadians and No Line Ones? That leaves about .05% of the Hereford breed.

And we already knew he didn't want to see any polled cattle! :lol2: :lol2:

He pretty well named all the ones I was thinking he might have some interest in seeing!

While you're east go to Washington Dulles, catch a plane to Cape Town International, I'll pick you up there, I'll even take you to see some horned cattle.

Or you could pay Jerry Hambley a visit in Kansas, he has some cows going back to the Brookview herd, a few Korb's, some deewall's and the best of them all the polls from the Hathcock herd.

i'll tell you when i get back from the trip. I just want to look as this guy used some semen on a bull we've used in the past in a flush on a cow that was sired by 137Y out of a feltons 517 cow. i won't use any of those calves but i want to see them bad as his description and the pictures i've seen give me goosebumps and that has only happened twice before. i am planning on breeding to this same old bull that i have never seen a live animal by and i don't want to jinx anything so i'll let you know then.

Hereford 76,

You would be most welcome to stop by our place. We can show you everything in about 2 hours. If you time it right, we will either take you out to eat or cook you a good meal.

You've got it right.

There is absolutely no question on my part that a visit to Dvorak, Keg, Bookcliff, Dewall and Moon's would be a high priority. I would also stop over at Ken Coleman's in southeastern Colorado.

Have a nice and safe trip. Looking forward to seeing your report too.
