I see Online finally kicked the bucket, also Star SS Thunder LT 67J made the trip north [died as well].
Which reminds me, I've started noticing a little bit of a trend over the last few years, bulls with high birth weights having high milking daughters with good udders. Bond was one of the earlier ones, super high BW, got used way more than you think he would have because of his good milking, good uddered daughters. Thunder is another one whose daughters excell in that department and ofcoarse here lately PW Victor Boomer P606 has been the big time udder fixer who throws a big calf. Coincidence, mmmmaybe.

About P606, I had the opportunity to see some P606 heifer calves at JWR recently and I was very impressed. A nice front end on them and more volume and muscle than I expected. The news of him being an udder fixer is also good. We did get one cow bred to P606. Is the muscle coming from 46B or is it the bottom side of P606's pedigree??

Just about all the Boomers I've seen were very well muscled, so I'll venture the guess it comes from 46B.

Years ago if you wanted low birth weights and good maternal traits [milk] The Victor lines were the way to go. I think part of what made Remitall breeding so liked by a lot breeders, was that they added growth without losing the maternal traits, but that also led to higher birth weights. I'd would guess the breeder of P606 used 46B on his Victor cows to add some muscle and growth and take off some of 46B's high birth weight, P606 started out being advertised as a calving ease, high growth bull. Thats one of the reasons he was used a lot early on, was his low BW epd. So anyways, I say the muscle would have to come from the sire's side.

Would you please give me/us the story on Online. I also thought he had died a few years ago, I heard he fell getting off a trailer at a show and went to A&M for a hernia repair. I have heard that he simply quit producing semen and the put him down several years ago. I heard he had died about 6 different times. :roll: Now I'm ready to hear something from someone who actually saw him and talked to some people around him. Why did they remove a testicle? PM me if you would like..... thanks I would really like to know the truth about Online.

I can help you out with a few answers on that question. I don't know exactly how he got hurt, but he did have a servere hernia which they operated on, he was sent to recoup just down the road from where I live so I saw him a few time after his operation. He was still able to produce semen, but it was very poor quality, so they [Star Lake] decided to take him home and let him rest some more and see if the semen quality would get any better. Whether it did or not I don't know. But I do know that what I said earlier is correct. I helped load him on Star Lake's trailer when they took him home.

A good friend bought an Online ET heifer in the recipient from Star Lake for $3,500. Black cow calved, had solid black calf. A mixup from the source of the recipient. They replaced it with a real Online daughter at side of recipient. This recipient didn't milk, had to bottle feed the calf.

Not the only person. I do not want any online daughters for herd cows, too much expense feeding them. I do like online as a terminal bull to increase weights on calves. They also do well in the show ring if you feed them alot of feed.

No you are not I would not have him or any of his sons on my place. Seems the hernia thing is showing up in sons. Just like 19D would not be on my place either, eye problem.

19d was it eye cancer?

I have heard about eye problems a number of times but no one ever said what it was?
Also if it was cancer at what age? If it was in later years I dont know why it would matter?

Sorry to hear about your buddy's bad luck. I personally wouldn't pay that much for a pregnant recip no matter who the sire and dam were. To me thats maybe a $500 embryo in a $500/600 cull cow.

Not the only person. I do not want any online daughters for herd cows, too much expense feeding them. I do like online as a terminal bull to increase weights on calves. They also do well in the show ring if you feed them alot of feed.

At $200/300 a straw I don't think there will be to many folks using him as a terminal sire.

I don't know if they will do more business or not. I'm not a huge Online fan either.

I'm not one of his biggest fans either since I had one of his sons whose feet went bad, another trait he seems to pass on to his sons.
