If herbicide is applied with heavy dew on the weeds , is the herbicide diluted from the dew and made not as effective or does it help the plant absorb the herbicide.

I prefer to spray with a normal dew. If it is so heavy that it is dripping and sounds like rain I do not spray I think a lot will run off. some Experts will disagree but I find the plants will show the effects of the herbicide quicker and die when applied with a dew on them.

The plant has it pores open and is actively soaking up the moisture from the dew. The herbicide will go right along with it. I have found it much better to spray in the morning when its damp than late afternoon when the spray evaporates much quicker and the plant has it pores closed to conserve the moisture that it took up in the morning.

I spray anytime I want unless in heavy downpours... I have sprayed herbicide in light rain and it worked just as its supposed too.

Plant cells are more open morning. I spray a lot of stuff on tobacco, everything but bug killer or command goes on before 10.

I sprayed 3 tanks full Friday. One in the morning with the dew on, one at 2:00 and one at 6:00. Kinda unscientific here, but the morning kill was exceptional compared to the others. I was spraying Range Master.

Even without dew, I've found that spraying after noon is pretty much a waste of chemicals, fuel and time.

I age often thought spraying at night would be ideal, just not practical.

Read the label some herbicides have time and temp.recomandations. I have sprayed at all times of the day never noticed a difference. Sprayed remedy on some sericea lespedeza friday 20min before it rained looks like its going down.
