Help with steer

I know everyone has different opinions on these things but would a longhorn steer be good if he was processed? Any recommendations on what to do to get them ready to go be slaughtered? I know you have to finish them out but anything other than that? I have a chance to get some steers that are not far off from being ready for $400 so just thought I would get everyone's opinion on this breed? IF you don't recommend them what breed would you pick and why. Thanks

Chad I've heard folks discuss the great benefits of longhorn beef but personally have had no experience with them. There is a place down around Bandera that raises "grass fed longhorn beef" but I wonder about it. Maybe someone with some good experiences can give you some good info. Longhorns don't seem to sell for a lot so don't overpay.
