Help with breeding heifers not knowing their ages

Hi, I thought I'd ask this and see what advice I could get.

I dont know how old my two heifers are but I wanted to breed them sometime in the near future. The problem is I do not know their ages. They are both average black angus heifers. One is about 715 pounds the other is now 520 pounds

The time of calving doesn't really matter for me - I can get plenty of hay for just two pairs and I have a place to get out of the weather. I'd like to put them in with a bull at the same time though.

When do you think the time would be right for breeding the smaller one?

no question is a rookie question no matter what it is.since you dont know their ages id breed by weight.an since you say 1 heifer is 720lbs.id say she is ready for the bull.the othe heifer at 520lbs in my book has another 200lbs to gain.there fore 90 to 120 days before you turn her with the bull.

It is not a rookie question, you would probably be surprised how often this happens. My suggestion would be - if they are bangs vaccinated and you have a chute - I believe the bangs tag has the year they were vaccinated. Since most people vaccinate between 6 and around 9 or 10 months of age, that would narrow it down considerably. Just my thoughts.

How long have you had these heifers? The bangs tattoo will give you, I believe the month and year that she was vaccinated, figure bangs at six months, have to be at least four months old..
IMO the little one needs to grow up, we breed to calve as two year olds. Have the heifers cycled yet and..are these scale weights or guesstimates.
