I have an angus/simmental mixed heifer that calved 12/3/2011. She was bred AI for her first calf. I put her and the calf back with the herd which includes a big angus bull about mid-January. She came into estrus on 2/8/12. He was with her all day the 8th. When I saw her on the 9th, she was holding her tail up off her genital area. She continued doing that today. Could it be a little sore or is this some sexual behavior I have not heard about? He is big and she is a little on the small side.

I thought that might be the cause. Poor girl!

Not sure it hurts, but there's a bucket full of semen in there now so it also feels funny -
