Have a yearling heifer acting like hips and right front shoulder hurts badly to walk. Hooves are sound from what we can tell(looked today but it was almost dark) and she doesn't seem to be in too much distress, just alot of pain. She hobbles very gingerly, daintily and does not put weight on her right front leg. At the same time, she rests her back legs, almost like she's going to sit down in a 'dog' stance. I was out checking them earlier this week, so it hasn't been long since it happened. She doesn't act like her feet hurt, just her joints, hips or shoulders. Could it be a pinched nerve?? I don't really want to lose her because generally the calves that come from her mother are good Mommas.

We're keeping her up this weekend and calling the vet Monday if she doesn't get better, but ideas on what's the matter would be great. I'll see if I can get pictures or videos tomorrow when I go and check on her.

We had checked her hooves yesterday and they weren't tender and we didn't see anything between them. She's doing a whole lot better today, but we're going to keep her up for the rest of the weekend to make sure.
