I know that it depends a lot on the genetics of the heifer but for the Texas climate and the region i live in which would be a better choice of heifer to get. i have a friend whose father has a brangus ranch and they usually have some beautiful heifers but i was wondering which would be easier to get ahold of a herford or brangus heifer and which will usually end up taking the show.

taking a show always depends on what the judge at that show likes better. but if you get a brangus that fits the breed criteria really good then there should be no stopping it. just as well with a herford. but i've had my share of brangus and i've loved them.

yea i talked to my ag teacher today and he said that i will get buried by shorthorns if i get a hereford so i am probably gonna lean towards a brangus although i might get a steer instead of a heifer seeing as it is very hard to break even with a commercial heifer here at the fort bend county fair in texas
