heifer cross questions

I am a newbie so y'all bear with me please.....a local gentleman has 3 heifers that are out of herford cows to brangus bulls.....the heifers are solid black.....i'm used to seeing an angus to herford black baldies but not this one.....that said the black baldies at his place were nice and it seems like these would be nice replacement heifers......what do y'all think?

yes they will make some nice replacement heifers.that cross works real good.

If I were to purchase them I would be breeding them to our red angus
bull......would I end up with red baldy calves? Does the white face of the herford come back readily? We eventually want red and black calves

Once it's gone it's pretty much gone for good but you might get a mottled face or one with a little white on the face/feet. I've never seen a first generation Hereford X anything that lost all of the white from the face.

Agreed - the "Hereford" dams had to be crossbred cows - not pure Herefords for the calf to lose the white face.

thanks for the comments.....so maybe these black calves instead of being off herford to brangus crosses......were in fact black baldy to brangus crosses and maybe I just misunderstood (been looking at alot of cattle lately)......thanks again Chris.
