Have anyone received a Health Care Cancellation notice yet?
I saw my Arthritis Dr. Monday and he told me that Obamacare may cause him to close his office and retire. He said the OC was cutting MD. fees and changing the medications available to him.

I have several clients that have gotten notifications that they are being transferred to a compliant plan. These plans are generally more expensive and have far worse coverage.

Most of the carriers I represent are allowing people to renew with their current plan since penalties won't begin until 2015. As bad as this sucks right now it will be worse next open enrollment I believe.

That can't be right because Obama promised us no one would lose their coverage and it would be cheaper.

Of course I just got a letter this week and my premiums will be increasing to a more affordable rate.

This whole things sucks!!! Made my life a nighmare for the past couple of months and will be for a couple more I'd say.

Don't you just want to call the call center and talk to some random person that hasn't been trained for $hit and more than likely not even back ground checked. Those are the people I want to give my personal information to over the phone. :x

This whole thing could have been handled a lot better with just a nationwide group insurance plan where everyone pays but they have to many self interests to consider else they won't be re-elected and if they are not re-elected there isn't enough beer cans on the side of the road for all these vermin to make a living. I wonder how this will effect them? Oh that's right, it doesn't apply to them - just the sheeple.

From my understanding, you sign up, but you still don't have insurance yet. You just gave them all your information and they will get back with you. You were given an amount you will have to pay to an insurance company. Will it really be that price? If you get a subsidy, the government pays that directly to the insurance company. Now this subsidy is based on 2013 income, not yet filed. Now this insurance and all is for the year 2014. Your income may be different in 2014, and if you earned that .01 cent more, you may not qualify for the subsidy. You will now owe the government that subsidy back. Nobody has mentioned that, but I totally expect it. I'm just waiting for the rest of the sheit to hit the fan in 2014.

Can't a person still buy insurance privately through an insurance company, or does all private purchases have to be through the exchange? What if you don't take the subsidy now, pay the price, will the government give you the subsidy with a tax return? I was priced out of insurance about a year and a half ago as the prices went crazy. My insurance company was complying before the grandfather date. If the prices were already jacked, they wouldn't seem so bad when this new crap came along. So I need insurance and I don't want to put any information on the government web site. Florida stayed out of the exchanges and I am actually glad they did.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
You can still buy insurance through a private company. However, if you use a 1/1/14 or after effective date you will be getting a compliant type plan. My efforts have shown higher premiums and worse coverage for these plans compared to say a plan that would be effective before 1/1/14.

MO opted not to start their own exchange and use the Federal one. Not sure if we could have done any better but sure as he77 couldn't have done worse.

Some plans are grandfathered in and some companies are letting people keep existing plans for another year. Any newly purchased plan has to be in compliance. Confusing is an understatment!

ya, well how about medicare. Part A, B,,,,D,,xyz. Is it part D you buy? Whatever it is we have the supplemental for hubby. Got the renewal package. Not that bad on the co pays increasing by $5. Will probably loose the extra help from the state so meds will cost about $160 per month. That is nothing compared to full price. Now in checking doctors and hospitals, that is a different story. Doesn't matter if they are on a list or not, they can drop or add into a plan on a daily basis. Gee thanks. The list that came with the package was 1 1/2 page. So, I called and they could send me the list that was good at the moment it was printed.

Yes you purchase Part D for RX coverage from a private company. There are so many carriers that with Part D it really pays to look at that plan annually. A plan can be great today and tomorrow with a RX change or two can be terrible. I highly recommend shopping at open enrollment.

Have Florida BlueMedicare Regional PPO. It covers alot and handles all medicare so only one place to go for information. Been happy with them since he started Medicare. Never any problems. At least his pills are common for high blood pressure, so shouldn't be problems with changes coming about. Knock on wood.

I am fortunate that I can keep my grandfathered plan .... for now.

How many times did we hear, "If you like your plan you can keep it"??

I think it is very unfair they won't give any extra time for people to get enrolled even though the web site is 60 days late, IF they really do get it fixed by the end of November. Last I heard the deadline was still Jan. 1, 2014. The employers got an extension, but the individuals are just screwed. As usual. I would be howling mad if I got penalized $95 for not having health insurance because my old plan became non-compliant and then their pos web site didn't work.

Fingers crossed here, my policy must be compliant because I haven't got a pink slip yet.

pres....is that medicine cost of $160 a month what you have to pay over and above what your prescription coverage pays?? I don't take any really expensive meds and get a 90 day prescription on each all refilled at the same time and net cost to me is $9.95.

Been extended to Mar 1 2014.

TexasBred. I don't know how it works, but in Florida we no longer have to pay for the supplemental. Before that it was $63 per month. One medication would cost almost $400 cash. So the $160 is monthly cost of 5 prescriptions, We can get a 3 month supply on all but one, but can't shell out that much in one month. Seems the last 3 months everything has been happening to eat the bank account. The buffer is dwindling.

I had an epidural six weeks ago for my back [arthritis]. The Dr.'s office had to get it approved for the first time in thirty five years. Who approved, I don't have a clue but my Medicare/Blue Cross paid 100% as usual. Our health insurance is with PERS, as part of Kathy's retirement package. We have not received any notices from PERS so we just worry.

Wife and I are both on Medicare. In the past we have had supplemental insurance with BCBS and also a prescription policy. Well satisfied. A month ago received a letter from them advising that prescription coverage would no longer be offered. This week the wife received a letter from her endocrinologist stating that as of Jan. 1 he will no longer see Medicare patients due to the paperwork required and the amounts reimbursed. I am waiting to receive a letter from my rheumatogist saying the same. We both had to change our GP's last year because our Dr of 40 yrs decided not to file Medicare.
We have an appt. with our insurance agent next week to look at our options, but I don't think they will be good.
FOLKS, Not only are we looking at the greatest transfer of wealth (Obamacare) this nation has ever seen, but those of us on Medicare are being hung out to "dry" (or substitute any word that rhymes with dry). We really have no place to go at this stage in our lives.

And don't even ask me about what I think of "his" respect of veterans! :bang: :bang:
