Anyone wanting to lease a hay pasture in East Texas (Gilmer area), I have a co-worker looking to lease out. All I know is it's over 100 acres, don't know if that is 101 or 199.
They just would rather not see it go to waste. It's too far for me or I would be on it.

Use to be lots of dairies up in that area that could use it but may be all gone by now.

If it's like my area of E Texas, they are gone fer sure. I don't even know of a single one around here anymore, and haven't seen a milk truck in ages. (Gilmer is a loong ways from me tho)
It's not too far from Sulphur Springs tho and if the # of dairy cattle I saw at the SS sale barn last Feb is any indication, there are still quite a few dairys in operation up there.

Upshur camp wood and hopkins counties are still dairy country. There is a creamery 8 miles from here in winnsboro. We are covered up in hay despite army worms and grasshoppers. Its just been a productive year with all the rain. Hay will be cheap. We have 100 plus acres offered to cut free. Not sure if we will or not. At some point its just wasting diesel if you cant sell it.

GB the dairy sale here is just about done in.the only sale every other thurs.and they are lucky if they have 100hd at the sale.sometimes they might have 150hd.winnsboro has a dairy sale once a month.but i dont know the #s going through.when we sold out the milk cows in 2000 youd be lucky if they had enough cattle to sale for 3 or 4hrs before the sale was over.

Where exactly is the hay pasture? I'm northwest of Gilmer and bale about 300-400 acres a cutting. Might be interested if close by and in good condition.
