A 580 lb. Solid Black Heifer that brought 1.3575 and a 550 lb. Black Blaze Face Bull that brought 1.3950 per lb. Pretty happy with the heifer thought the bull should have done better. If he had been 30 lbs. heavier or even 30 lbs. lighter I think he would have brought more money. His pen just didn't get the bids like his look alike bigger and smaller counterparts. Was a really nice looking bunch as well, even the grader made that comment while they went through the arena or ring. Anyway it's nice to see a bit of hard work pay off. The heifer were born in one of those really cold snowy days in January and was about to become an ice block when I found her. I tossed her in the crew cab of the truck to start warming her up, then I drove to town and got a bag of colostrum while she rode in the cab. Got her back to the house made the bottle and fed her in the house out of the cold. After a while she were trying to go throughout the house and following me. Decided then she was ready to go back to momma that evening and from then on it has all went smoothly. Not only did I save the calf but the ears and tail all were fine. She did get the nickname house walker though.
