Another successful harvest. Not that I expected less.

Didn't have one I could have called an idiot. Just the normal. No injuries to man or beast.

I want and will have some Chars. Got to buy Lims again as my dad still likes them black and red not yellow and smokey.

It's good to see calves that ain't climbing the fences and pens at gathering time ain't it? The stockers and feed lot folks like those calm calves also.

There really should be a premium for calm calves. They grow better and make better beef all the way around.

In sort of a bassakwards sort of way there is a premium for calmer calves. They don;t get that couple of dollars cwt dock that the wild ones get.

When is it ever enough? If a feedlot told you exactly what they wanted and you delivered it there would still be something, not black enough, too black, too much flesh, not enough flesh, etc.

I was merely trying to make a point that I think calm cattle are one of the most important aspects of raising cattle. Of course the other traits are important also but, I have seen a few mongrels turn out to make a pretty good steak.

Stress is the key. I think. Those calm cattle don't get as stressed as the fools do. They eat more, convert more, and play a big part in tenderness too.

I know the point you were trying to make and I concur whole heartedly. But the buyers are in the business of making money and will find any semi-legitimate reason to dock calves if they can. That was the point I was trying to make.

It's great to have good neighbors.

We had retired folks come out just to enjoy the time yesterday when we harvested the calves.

Seems like they were passing time like it was around here back 30 years ago.

They made a purty good moving fence. It moved a might slower than the horses but they were all into it.
