now if we could just get the idocy to celebrate earth day on earth day.....

Around here there are Earth Day events scattered over two weeks before and after the actual Earth Day.....

I celebrated by planting four plots this morning in our little local community garden...

Especially ones like he is cutting. I live close to a Lykes Brothers Tree Farm and they grow thousands of those pines.

I save the tires.

I stack my bales on them - keeps them off the ground - the bottoms stay dry and I can drive over them to get to the stack in the winter time. Any bales stacked in the big shop tend to get damp and a bit of spoilage happens when they are stacked on dirt and even gravel.Tarps keep the rain off the outside bales and also keeps the water out of the tires - tires keep the bales off the ground.

I agree, we should be good stewards...just hate that our US policies encourage industry and energy over seas where the laws are substandard.

Not on my place they aren't. I cut every one i could last few years and I'm spraying herbicide on every one I see sprout up--especially pines. Burned a big brushpile today of leftover tops and limbs, drove around all the property in my truck with the window down and the a/c on checking out the spring weed and brush crop, then went to town, bought all the herbicide and surfactant I'll need till fall. Came back, drove down the pond, fed the fish and sat in the truck with the a/c on and the window down again and watched the fish eat. Spent the rest of the day getting the spray rig ready.

I would hardly blame your own country for the actions of China, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and many, many more - in fact from travels around the world I would say your country does exactly the opposite of what you just blamed them for.

How about that - me! Sticking up for the US of A! LOL

However - I believe it is the truth. American representation at the personal level - not the political level - in all the countries I have been in is usually exemplary.

And politicians do not set the levels of behaviour in any country unless it is corrupt enough to be bought in the first place - meaning they do not give a dam(n) about their own people and their own environment anyways.

Just my not so darned humble opinion

Being beholden to the global warming zealots in the US has stunted progress in energy independence as well as job creation. Look at Keystone...nothing but excuses for five years. We'd rather limit our off shore drilling and let other countries do the drilling where their regulations are lax increasing the risk of environmental issues. We'd rather keep corporate tax rates high encouraging jobs to go overseas where the last think India and China are concerned with is clean air. This leaves more of our own without jobs and dependent on government all the while pounding fists about the "rich" paying their fare share. So while they are patting themselves on the back for rallying the 99%ers, and signing executive orders "gifting" to the base all for political gain, using the power of the IR$ to limit speech, Rome is burning. It's all about the self fulfilling prophecy of retained power as you make a people reliant on a hand out instead a hand up to self reliance. :2cents:

There you go - I agree with much of what you are saying - however you come across as running your own country down

You may not see it but as a person who does not live there - that is the message you are sending

Defend your message all day - but it sounds bad when you open it this way - there is far more to your contry - and it is ok to voice an opinion - however - the voters of your country placed the people in power - even if you were not one of them. That is democracy.

And what have YOU done to correct these issues?

Sit at the table and beach about it?

When you complain about politics or the leaders or the voters I always ask - "How involved are you and DID YOU VOTE?"

The person who says "not involved" or "did not vote" always gets the same answer from me. "You have the government you deserve and you have no right to complain".

Remember - most citizens do not get involved and a huge number never vote.
