Ham & Beans

Wanting to cook a large pot of bean soup in a kettle outside. I'm looking for a recipe for about a 7 gal kettle . Many years ago a coworker fixed up a large kettle of beans that were really good . He is no longer with us to get his help. Seem like carrots ,onion, garlic, ham hocks and beans . What else should I put in the soup ? Any ideas would be great. thanks rj

Could you be more specific on the type beans? The type will make a lot of difference.

I really enjoy a 15 bean soup.

I like that too. My wife recently made a bean dish with pintos, black beans, ground beef, onions and some other stuff. I think it had some mollasses in it. I looked sortof like pork and beans in a can with a bunch of other stuff in it. Really good dish.
