I have a toyota hunting truck 4 cyl wouldnt recommend it for pulling cattle lol I also would not be looking at dodge if you want your money's worth. I would take a chevy over a dodge that being said 98% of my fleet and personal vehicles are ford.

Iam a dodge man but have always had dodge diesels. Never was impressed with dodge gas pick ups. For a half ton truck I would go with a ford.

I sold them and owned them all. Here is the skinny-

Chevy- smoothest ride, usually best on fuel, least power, and payload.

Dodge- most power, worst fuel economy, body and interior are historically inferior to the other brands.

Ford- A mix of the other two. Good power, close to Chevy fuel economy, smoother than the dodge but not as smooth as the Chevy and is the roomiest of the 3.

I was a lifelong Chevy fan until a year ago. I bought 2 new F-150s for daily drivers and you couldn't melt me down a pour me in a Chevy now. Chevy hasn't been the same since 2006.

You need to look at them all and decide for yourself. IMO RAM is the best truck for the money. The RAM has won truck of the year a few times in a row now. They are leading the pack right now. And their V6 half ton truck gets the best fuel mileage also. But I have never owned a RAM truck with a gas engine.

Truck opinions are like arseholes everyone has one. Drive all 4 and get what you like. I am a mopar to the core. And can tell you the Ford's and Chevy are crap just like they will tell You dodge is crap. But your but in the seat and drive it. Dodge does have the most power and has a better ride. Payload suffers because of coils in rear.

Btw, I average 19mpg with 35s I drive a min of 100 miles a day only 30% is town driving.

I bought a 2010 f150 fx4 brand new and hated it, the transmission was terrible. Sounded like a hammer hitting the floorboard when it down shifted. I haven't owned a half ton since, but if "I" was in the market I'd either get the tundra or the Ram 1500 hemi.

i learn something everyday I never knew dodge made a diesel, I always thought they used cummins.

IIRC, well driller here had a '89 diesel 250 4x4. Dodge kept with that body style thru '93 MY. All new body style in '94 is when Dodge/Cummins started giving GM and Ford real competition.

Never owned a diesel pickup myself. If so I would have chosen the Dodge/Cummins over any diesel offered by Ford or GM through those years.

Rumor is Fiat plans to discontinue the Cummins contract and go with an in-house engine for Ram. IMO that will further alienate a lot of loyal Dodge/Cummins customers. Many who buy Ram solely because of the Cummins engine.

Yep. I guess I don't drive a dodge diesel truck, it must be a cummins diesel truck. I never knew cummins built trucks, I thought they made Diesel engines for trucks.
