Hairy sheep

If I mix a hairy sheep like a damara, with a wholly sheep, than what would the offspring turn out to be?

More than likely you will end up with sheep that shed part of their coat in the summer, but not all of it. How much would depend on the dominant gene.

Typically you'll get a wooly looking sheep, but with a few hairs mixed in and not quite as full a cover as with normal wool sheep. For your situation Damara would be my last choice of breed to consider, they are meant for the dessert where you cannot farm with a more productive breed.

Thanks for the concern Knersie. I was asking from a strictly curious standpoint, trying to find out something about how genetics work.
To get hairy offspring one would need two generations of hairy rams and anyway get half of the lambs partly wholly, or something to that effect?

Don't think its a case of simple Mendellian inheritance, its very hard to breed the wool away and just about impossible to go back to a wool sheep for wool production purposes.

Not necessarily you can have hairy offspring if you breed angora to angora. Of course that is goats but they are about the size of some sheep.
