Took a couple pictures Thursday so I could see how much the calves have grown. I will be taking more pictures in a month or so to see how they've grown then. I will post some more on this thread once I take them.
My rat tail bullcalf at 3 months. Momma is I believe Char x Brangus. Sire is BA.

Is your rat-tail calf still blind in his right eye? (I hope I've connected your posts correctly - just read your rat-tail post from Feb again.)

Those speckles are cute.

Thanks 3way, we had great grass growth this spring. :)

Putangitangi, he was born with white in his eye but since then, now he seems normal. He squints some in the bright sun but I kind of attribute it to his lack of hair due to the rattail gene. He seems to have good sense of movement on both sides so I'm not sure why he was born with white in his eye. Thank you for asking, though!

Calves look great. I like the rat tail one. He is growing fast. Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you williams, he is growing pretty fast!

Edit on my beefmaster type bullcalf, I calculated his age wrong and he is actually 6 months. Woops, I'm terrible at math

I took the first bullcalf of the season up to the sale. Workers said he looks about 700 lbs. Not bad for a 7, almost 8 month old  With how high prices are, I'm hoping to get a great check. I will update tomorrow on how much he brings.

Took pictures today.

Crossbred heifer, mainly angus, who I think might be bagging up. I'm not sure, but I would rather she not be and grow more before she calves.

1 month old.

Momma's second calf. 7 month old heifer I will keep. They have a bit of shorthorn blood.

2-3 yr old raising her first calf. angus x f1 tiger. I'm very happy with her.

NIce babies! I'm a little worried about that thistle in the foreground of one of the pics though...we've been digging all week in pastures we didn't spray so I'm sensitive to them. :cboy:

Thank you! Yeah, in the back of our pasture it grows pretty heavily. I hate it with a passion! It's died out quite a bit in the past couple of years for whatever reason. We're looking at a fourwheeler sprayer because it's too hard to get our big tractor sprayer out there.

I managed to get some pictures before it rained today.
These are the ones we are currently weaning. They should all be 7-8 months. Black one is mainly angus with a tad of Shorthorn. Other two speckled ones are British White x Angus. The one with the speckled face is currently my favorite.

This is the speckled one I like before we got her up to wean.

This is a f1(herf x brahman) x angus. She started out as a red orange color, but she will eventually turn black. I'll keep her. She is 5-6 months.

This cow is was a first calver, sister to the previous heifer. She is the same breeding. Calf is a bit of a dud, but it was her first calf. 5-6 months old.

This bull calf is one of my favorites because of this thickness. I wish he had more meat in his hindquarters, though. He is 7 months old and going to the sale this Thursday.

This cow is mostly angus with either herf or sim, I can't remember. I hate her udder, but she is on her second calf this year so we will see how it grows.

This is my rattail and a longhorn x heifer. They are both about 5-6 months.

My how your calves have grown! All of them are looking great. I love that white speckled one. She will make a beautiful cow. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed looking at the pictures.

Here are some updated pictures. I have sold 3 bull calves so far. I have 3 left to sell soon if I remember correctly. I have 2 heifers I need to wean so I will have pictures of them in a couple weeks. So far I have kept 5 heifers this year, and bought 1.
Bull calf that is around 6 months. He will stay on his momma, the cow with the blazed face and horns, a few more weeks.

I sold this one last week. He was 8 months. By far one of my favorites. He weighed 760
tumblr_n9lk4kiApq1rdftrko7_1280.jpg

This is the rat tail bull calf at about 6 months. So far I have not seen any less weight gain other than he does not have a lot of muscle like my others. He is very lacking in the hindquarters. I don't care for him much.
tumblr_n9lkb5VW141rdftrko1_500.jpg

This is the newest one I have bought to replace an old cow. I believe she is gert x shorthorn because she was in a pen with shorthorns and has a little ear and leather. We will see how she does.
