After years of being by my side I've lost her. Am grief stricken. Floored and depressed.

After years of being by my side she is now gone and there is nothing I can do about it though I did try. She was always with me when I worked the calves. When I fed them, she was always there. But no more. No more will she be there for me help me test the BBQ to see if its done. To help me when I worked on equipment or do small wiring jobs. Without a complaint she was always there and ready to lend a hand when she could.

She had aged well. Much better than I ever could have hoped. In fact I think she got prettier with age. Yes, she was beautiful and an easy keeper and not demanding in the least. Just a few gentle strokes each week and she was always ready and willing to help any way she could. But no more. She's gone and I'm grief stricken. And they say grown men don't cry.

Dang I'm gonna miss that knife.

I offer you my sincere sympathy. :cry2:
Things just will not feel right anymore.
I know it is hard for you to understand now, but, in time, you will find another and your grief will subside.

So sad for your loss.

I too have had an occasion to lose a knife, a knife that I had because someone else had gone thru the grief of losing it. I found it in the ceiling of a building we were remodeling. It was a good little knife but it also left me on occasion. Somehow it always found its way back to my home except for this last time. I'm hoping someday it will return so I can lose it for the third time. :(

Thanks for your kind and reassuring words. I keep patting my leg in hopes she'll be there but like you say there is only a bare spot. A void in my life. Why?!? Oh, the pain is almost unbearable. I just hope I don't outlive my wife.

Jo I have a pair of hunting boots that shoulda been gone a year ago but I cannot find the strength to throw them away. Brother I feel your pain. Some things are just supposed to last forever.

I know the pain Jogee, the finest tool I have ever owned is a Leatherman PST 2, it finaly became so worn that it had to be retired to the resthome ( the drawer where my wife puts stuff out of my pockets). I've got a new one, but I can tell already that it is not the tool of the old one.

In trying to assuade my grief over my similar losses, I realized I was not alone, because this is why they have metal alerts on combines and harvesters!

I have a regular harem out there just waiting to come home to Daddy!

Jogee are you sure 'she' was a 'she' and not a 'he'??  Sorry about your loss :cry2:,time heals all.

:lol2: :lol2: Falling back on my dusty french couteau would be masculine so I erred. But let me be perfectly clear, our relationship was purely and absolutely platonic. :lol2: ;-)

Maybe it'll turn up in dieselbeef's pasture? :P

Dang it! I was gonna say that!

:lol2: :lol2: There ya'll girls go again. Nothing seems to amuse ya'll wimmen more than kicking a man when he's down. ;-) Here I am hunting a little sympathy and ya'll just go and throw tequila on the wound. Guess if I'm hunting sympathy I best look in the dictionary somewhere between $hit and syphilis. ;-)

If it makes you feel any better, Jo, I used to have a switchblade until I let my brother borrow it to cut hay strings one day.
Who knows if I'll ever find another opportunity to pick one of those up.

Switchblades aint for cutting hay strings. They are for "specialzed" use and should not be treated as common work tools.
