There are probably more breeds of cattle than I can count, so I don't feel too dumb asking this. Is the Galloway the only breed that is black with a White Belly Band?
 
Belted Galloway and Dutch Belted, the Dutch are a dairy breed.. There is also a concocted breed Buelingo.

Thanks Dun. I saw 3 at the sale barn last spring, standing in the pens, didn't stay long enough to check the selling price. These were not wooly though, so possibly the dairy breed. My wife liked them cause they were different. I'm reading, however, that if you are going to raise one for the freezer, the dairy breeds have good marbeling qualities. Those old dairy farmers up in Illinois, said they got so used to eating the holstien calves, that other beef tasted "funny" to them.

Never seen any that were not red. That doesn't mean someone didn't breed something and call it one, kinda like black Herefords.
I guess if you believe in unicorns black herefords could be real.
 
There are Black Devons now too.. Whether they are South Devons or whatever I don't know but they are out there...

Those would be South Devons... Don't know if the Devons have done it yet.. It wouldn't surprise me either way...

The belts on Belted Galloway is dominant. Crossed with most any solid colored animal they should produce some sort of belt though it may not always be perfect.

One of my Belted Galloway bulls accidentally got loose with a renters commercial angus cows who had just calved. So far four of his cows have produced five belted calves though some belts were incomplete. All the cows in the pasture have not calved yet so we don't know if more are coming.
