I'm over 800 miles from the Canadian border and we had snow too...

Ours is gone by now and we have a warming trend.

We had snow 10ish days ago. Today was 65, by mid week back to seasonable 30s and 40s.

2020, we got a foot of snow on Oct. 25. Next morning it was -30. 5 days later we shipped calves, it was starting to rain when the last load was going on the liner. Rained for three days, melted the snow, covered our winter range in 8 inches of water and then froze hard again and snowed. We fed cows from Oct 25 to May 25th that winter.

That is a long winter.

Earliest I remember snow falling and staying is October 18th my dad's birthday. I was logging that year and we had to move south out of the lake effect snow region to be able to operate by late November.

I would think that 70 would be a nice pool temp to swim in.

I had other words for it. The only good thing about that winter was the over abundance of feral horses got thinned out big time.

I don’t mind the feeding time of year at all. Around here it’s the most relaxing part of the year. Only takes a couple of hours to feed and as long as everything is working as it should there’s lots of time for R&R.

I enjoy winter and feeding for 5-7 months. Like Silver its a few hours a day max. The rest can be spent doing any number of things even taking the occasional nap. It's also when I get to spend time in the shop with my sons wrenching of equipment.

Attempted a count today at all three places. Morrison Meadow was a challenge even after putting down a line of hay. Looking like maybe 50 to 60 pairs still out.
