Grazing on wheat that is knee high...Thoughts?

Hello, This is my first post. I tried using the search feature, but it only seems to work occasionaly. I'll make this as brief as possible. I'm new to raising cattle, just started renovating about 150 acres of pasture and hay in central Arkansas. (ran soil tests, fertilized, ran a sub soiler, planted wheat in Oct. ) The wheat came on late and delayed the purchase of cows. Now it's coming on strong and still I have not purchased cows yet. I plan on getting 8-10 Beefmaster pairs ASAP.

Question: Can I turn them in on this 40 acres of knee high wheat that was drilled in over fescue/bahai grass pasture? What precautions should I take to prevent bloat? or other issues? I don't need it for hay and I would hate to see this go to waste. Thanks so much for your input

They will do great on it just open the gate and they will do the rest. There a little stuff in there they wont eat. (cheat is what we call it but not correct id)

if i was you id cut an bale that wheat an graze the cows elsewhere.the cows will tromp down an waste more than they will eat.an grazing wheat the cows need tobe on HIMAG minerals for 2 or 3wks before turning into wheat.an that mineral should prevent the bloat.

bale it! 8-10 cows won't put a dent in that before the wheat dies out. It'll be a waste. Bale it and leave a strip for the cows to eat on. You could prolly put 30-40 cows on that and they wouldn't be able to eat it down before it dies from the heat. Its already put on a pretty good head- act quick!
