Graze wheat or cut for hay

Finished up grazing some sorghum sudan. I wanted to follow it with possibly some forage oats. Chickened out, and I'm going with wheat. Already got 30 bushels of bin run wheat, so that's what I'll be planting. Plan to go about 100 pounds to the acre, I will wait for spring and topdress it with some N. Should I cut it for hay in the spring, or let the cattle graze it?

Don't start me to lying to ya now. I have no earthly idea. The cattle love it is all I know.

I forget everybody doesn’t live 2 miles from a set of truck scales. I’ve been tracking the different yields on what I raise. Wasn’t blow out of the water by my sorghum Sudan. Maybe if I team it with winter wheat, I’ll be happier.
 
Graze it all winter and early spring then let it go for a few weeks and bale it. Thats what I do with whatever mix I plant which sometimes includes wheat, sometimes not. For us in Texas that usually means locking the gates around the first of March, try to bale mid April. Drying it down is always a problem.

Dad used to plant wheat. Grazed it till February then cut for grain in May or hay in April. Yields about the same as oats. Kind of a toss up which does better.
