I always appreciate upgrading... I noticed that I am now among the "Cowhands" of the forum... I guess if I hang around the "Coffee Shop" long enough, telling jokes, I will be able to move right on up the food chain! I wonder if I have enough jokes in my repetouir (sp)... Thank goodness that they don't have to be good ones to get credit for the submission.
Anyway... When does a heifer graduate into cowdom?

When she has her first calf, she's a cow.

Wait a minute now Frankie........................

She could be a heiferette!

Well, lets see ;-)

There is of course heifers (anything that has never calved)
1st calf heifers
2nd calvers
and then cows, although personally I consider them cows once they have had their second calf.

It depends on the area, around here we have 2 year old heifers and we have 3 year old heifers. Anything older than that is a cow.

This may be another one of those regional things. Around here, we us the traditional definition that a hefer has yet to have a calf. From the time that she drops that first calf she is a cow. No gray area. She is either a heffer or a cow. I never heard of a second calf hefer except on this discussion board.
