One source says around 880,000 federal employees are off work today. They aren't laid off and they'll eventually get paid for taking the day off.
Those employees are deemed "not essential". That should tell us something.
The tone of this debate is as nasty as I've seen it. The Democrat leadership and talking heads voices have gone up about two octaves lambasting the Tea Party. But, that's politics. Harry Truman said "If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog."
The neighbor's rooster crowed this morning, so I guess he isn't on the federal payroll--or he's essential.
