Found this surfing around today. Gotta love how the author wants to have a "chat" about meat but then there is no comment section to actually have a chat with the author. Instead you have to email him wear no one but you and him can see the other side. But that's the way most of these greenies want it where only their side is given out to the public.

If you read the author's credentials its obvious he got a liberal arts degree and found he couldn't make a living at it so he went to work for local governments and at the rate he changed jobs I can only assume his employment was brief so it appears he is now doing the only thing he is trained to do and that is to stir the pot and hope people send him money.

Very good observation. He definitely has done a lot with that 4 year degree.
covering topics as diverse as prefab housing, war and the environment, green-collar jobs and sustainable design.
He's even a political genius.

On this subject of greenies, a coworker and I were sitting at the breakroom table eating lunch, and talking about spraying the pastures with Grazon. One of the new employees ( a vegan) overhead our discussion and she asked what we were spraying. She nearly choked when we told her herbicides. She was apalled and she kept suggesting various ways to get rid of weeds or let them coexist without putting chemicals into the environment. I told her that cows simply could not get fat on weeds....

That's what I was wondering. Here was a perfect opportunity to become a Woofer!

This brings to mind a story one of my professors told me about a vegan like greenie who was working under him as she worked on her masters degree. She was against all of this stuff then one day she came in asking about how to kill an insect on her tomatoe plants. Knowing her beliefs he suggested she simply pick them off by hand. A few days later she came back and said her plants were still saturated with the insect and asked what commercial people sprayed to control the insects and he gave her a little insecticide and was more than happy to use it. She now has her doctorate but she is no longer a greenie.

The further we move from the land the less understanding people have of the problems we face. Maybe the answer is in woofing and letting them get a taste of it so they can better undertstand. Its easy to laugh at these people but until we can educate them with facts then they are not going away and will just make our jobs that much harder because many of these people have degrees in journalism just like this fella who wrote the article.

Just to give an idea of how these people are I will add that I had never seen a communist, a homosexual, a goth, a cross-dresser till I visited a college of journalism where I saw them all at one time walking in the doors of that school and I so wanted to click my boots together and go to Kansas like Dorothy did.

Yes we need to bark a little louder. But it appears that hippies have started to infiltrate into the farming world.
If you get the BEEF Daily email you will see what I mean. There are people that claim to be cattle farmers on there leaving comments that sound just as bad as the antis that are looking to tear the industry apart.
If you go down to the comments you'll see what I mean...nothing against grass fed, but the way they try to tell everyone that you can only eat grass fed because the stuff at the store came from some "factory farm" that beats them and is less healthy for you...somehow? And them doing this is really hurting the whole industry because when someone reads some so called farmer's post about feedlotting is bad, and harmful they think it to be true...cuase ha! theys a real farmer with their two cute dexter cows, and a scrawny bull.
Like I said it will probably get torn apart from the end side, and probably sooner than we think.

And I doubt they realize how much of a slaughter animal's life is spent on grass before going to the feedlot for finishing?
But 'hippies'? Really?
I ain't seen a hippie in 30 years. Yuppies, New Agers and social activists but no hippies---they're like passenger pigeons and hobos--gone extinct.
No loss there.

Guess you haven't been to Iso's hippie love ranch. :lol2:

Evidently, I have been misled. Again. So, they all left Austin, Houston and San Francisco and migrated to the Rockies and Oklahoma.
Not as good as a mass extinction, but close enough

First true Hippies arrived here in 1971. A whole lot of them never left! The vast majority of them morphed into todays democrats and greenies.

They are the ones telling the REA's that they have to use 40% green energy no matter what it costs to produce. They also love to scream about sustainability and doing everything "local". That works great around here as long as you want to live on meat and potatos for 7 months a year.

Meat, potatoes, and Mary Jane, got to get your greens.

That bring up another good "movement" of sustainability. Guess some don't think that if somehow corn went "sterile" threw genetically changing we will all starve. Like the show they had on history channel about if all the honey bees die the world would end because we wouldn't have any bugs to pollinate our food. They did forget to mention that 1/2 of the plants are self pollinating. :???:

There is no shortage of hippies around here. In fact we have a state funded liberal arts hippie college. That way the old hippies can train the next generation. They come here from all over the nation just to learn from the best. Then they stay *&!@#$##!.
