Picked up my new Savage Model 11 yesterday. Came with a Nikon 3-9x40 not a great scope but it's a start.

I like a 22-250. Great truck gun. I've shot a bunch of deer with one also.

My dominant eye is my left eye. We never owned any left handed guns growing up so Dad taught me to shoot right handed. I do shoot a pistol left handed 100% of the time but alternate between left and right depending on the shot with my long guns.

Never had a leftie gun either till now and had to order it. Going to be nice not having to reach over the scope, or have hot casings flying past my face.

Believe it's 9"x12" or something, have had it for quite a few year just stuck it on her to make her ready to go.

I've shot with a nikon before, and they are nice, but just really don't like the BDC reticle that much.

It will grow on you. I never liked them either until i mounted one on my son's AR. I was banging little bitty rocks at 500 yds with it. Like i said it grows on ya !
 
Nice rifle Sim! I agree with 3way on the Nikon. I have several Nikon scopes and have always found them to be a good value. The BDC isn't bad but it would have been better if they had made the dots much smaller and solid instead of the circles. I just ordered a 4.5x14 Burris E1 with the ballistiplex reticle to go on a .308 I bought. Once I get it dressed up I'll post a pic.

Yes, a lot more like a mil dot would make them a little easier to shoot.

Not really. If you learn your ballistics and stick with the same ammo the circles work good and they make a good rangefinder
 
Hey it's just personal. Much rather have mil dots with like a 1 MOA consistent spacing than get some goofy ranges that you get with the bdc.

Jump from 100 yards to 242 yards, and a big gap in between where I have to guess the hold instead of like with a Mil dot where I will have a better guess of hold over because of consistent spacing.
 
You know you would've thought that they would bore sight the scoop at the factory, but I guess you have to pay more for that because it was shooting about 3' low at 100 yards. But finally got her lined out good enough to ride in the tractor.
Bigger looking holes are some Hornady rounds, and the smaller looking holes are Remington UMC.
