When looking at heifers or cows to purchase, what should I look for in the udder department? Any pics of good versus bad would be helpful.

I'm thinking a uniform spacing would be adequate but I will admit I may not be covering all the bases. Help!

It's easy to spot a bad udder is when they're big and low to ground past the knee. I don't mind small udder or small teats or bottle sized teats since I'm commercial guy, but cows with huge udders are too much work to fool with.

The size of the udder does not always translate to more/less/better/worse milk. Its one aspect of milk production, but you have cows with picture perfect well suspended udders that milk poorly and raise a dink; and there are ones with small barely visible udders that raise a big fat calf.

But a well uddered cow that does her job well is a beautiful thing. I wish this site was easier for uploading pics .....
