I'm on a road trip in south Louisiana. I'm working on an aircraft and this guy walks up from ether land. He has a white wrapped package in his hand and ask if we were hungry. We were hungry. The continental breakfast didn't last very long. I ask if we could pay him for the food he brought to us. He said no; he does it everyday. I can say it was a welcome meal, unexpected but timed just right.
I'm not familiar with this but it's good stuff. Especially when your hungry

Abbeville Louisiana, USA there is a really good man that enjoys spontaneous acts of kindness, and somehow manages to do them at just the right time. God bless him

Yes it is boudin and it was delivered unexpectedly. Sometimes things just happen. We really were working are arses off and were very hungry. The guy showed up out of nowhere. He left just the same.

Babineaux's is in Abbeville so there is probably freshly slaughtered beef and pork in that Boudin. Grab some French bread, some Gulf Oysters and a beer or two to enjoy with that sausage.

Ahh-Abbeyville. I remember it well. On down the road, Gueydan --duck capital of the world. Poked lots of holes in the ground in Vermillion Parish back in the late 70s and 80s.
Abbeyville's big claim to fame back then was Hollywood came to town and did the remake of the movie The Blob.

Perry is right acros the Vermillion River from Abbeville. Spent just over a year there.

Boudin is good stuff.

There used to be a small cable operated ferry along that river somewhere down there. They would have to drop the cable if a tug or shrimp/oyster boat came along. I can't remember where it was now--would carry one light 18 wheeler or several autos and if the river was up, or at high flow, it was out of operation. It may have been on the Mermentau instead of the Calcasieu. It was the only cable operated ferry I've ever ridden on in the US.

There was a draw bridge between Perry and Abbeville. This was 1974 time frame. I used to bullfrog and trotline the vermillion back then.

This is the only drawbridge we crossed while down here. Crosses the Vermilion.

Shucks came highly recommended by the natives, but we didn't have time. Had to get done so we can get back home for a funeral :(

Is that drawbridge on 82? I just looked at the satellite images of Perry. Drawbridge is still there. I lived a few blocks away from it, in Perry.

I've been in all that area. Pecan island, forked island, cow island, Henry, Kaplan...
Good times.
I used to drink a bit--ok--a LOT.
Rumors in Kaplan, Coastal Bar in Pean Island and The Curve Lounge between Cow island and forked island.
Rumors or Curve either one is a toss up for the easiest places in the USA to get your butt whipped.
Coastal is the best littl bar I ever was in that is a mobile home. May not be there any more since Rita, Katrina and Ike blew thru.

A few years ago my son wen to Lousiana deer hunting with a friend of his. They went to a bar one night and the friend told him just drink and don't talk much. When my son asked why he was told they don't abide Yankees around here much. My son replied I'm not a Yankee I'm from Colorado. The kid just laughed and told him if you ain't from here yer a Yankee now button yer lip and drink.

According to him the weekend was definately a cultural learning experience and a ton of fun besides. I asked him about how they hunted and his reply was you wouldn't believe it but they make us look almost law abiding.
