"My choices in life were either to be a piano player in a whore house or a politician. And to
tell the truth, there's hardly any difference!"
I say dig him up and clone him!!

Amen! Used to see him once in awhile, my grandmother lived down the street from the home where he lived out his days in Independence. He came up in politics through an affiliation with Pendergrast, one of the crookedest politicians there was in this area. But he was able to keep his record clean in spite of that and seemed to have been of higher moral standards than his mentor.

Your Grandmother must have lived with a few blocks of my Aunt. I got to talk to Mr Truman on a couple of ocassions when he walked by her house. He was a very nice man to a little kid. Now that I am getting close to his age then, he is one of my all time favorite Presidents. I think it was great that he threatened to kick that music critics a$$ for making fun of his daughter.

Small world, 3way! Anybody passing thru Kansas City area with a little time to spare should definitely check out the Truman Presidential Library. He was one of the great ones.

A friend of mine almost hit Mr. Truman on one of his walks. She didn't see him step into the crosswalk at first. She slammed on the brakes and stopped in time, then recognized him. She said he looked at her, shook his finger at her as if to say tsk, tsk, then continued on his way. She said she was soooooooo embarassed! Thirty-some years later, she still blushed when she told me it happened. She passed away a couple years ago but I'll never forget her, or that story.
