Alabama legislature passes animal-ID bill
Alabama's state senate last week passed a bill that will allow the state's Department of Agriculture & Industries to implement an animal-identification system. The bill had previously passed in the state's House of Representatives, and now awaits approval from Governor Bob Riley. A news release from the Department of Agriculture & Industries says the bill will provide for the confidentiality of information as the department implements and maintains a database consistent with the USDA's National Animal Identification System.
