Herd is all to grass except for 9 head left to calf. Sure nice to have the lots basically empty. Turn the bulls out in a couple weeks and get some of the rejects sold and it's clear sailing for the summer.

We are on the opposite end of things but still looking at the light at the end of the tunnel. We have already worked all the cows, the calves have had their first round of shots. Next Wednesday and Thursday we run the calves back through for second round of shots, and pull them from their mammas. Once we finish that we sort the cows into their groups and let the summer grass take care of things until fall. It is such a good feeling to get the calves weaned and the cows sorted. Snapper season opens on June 1st so I am planning to do some serious deep sea fishing!

This is the first year in a very long time that we ran the entire cowherd through the chute an game them a a prebreeding shot and a long range injectible dewormer. Was a lot of work so hope it pays off. Calves were a lot bigger this year than years past as well, as nice as they are it sure made it alot more work to get them through.
