I have been shopping around for a used squeeze chute and headgate. My neighbor down the road has an old Filson that functions but has been sitting for a few years and will need new springs, wood panels, coat of paint and lube on ethe hinges etc.. It is rusty in areas but I could find no rust-through spots. It all seems to be surface. It also has a wheel kit installed to transport it. It comes with a second Filson headgate that is seperate that is in excellent condition. Used very little and stored in-doors. Also included is a couple of corral panels set up as a funnel into the chute. He is asking 600.00 for all of it. I know the new equipment is high and this might be a good alternative as I am not going to build up my operation on debt. This would put working equipment on both of my small farms keeping me from having to move equipment back and forth. Is 600 bucks a fair price?

If the equipment is in satisfactory condition for your needs and you are satisfied with the price then it certainly seems fair. New equipment is quite expensive so it sounds like a good beginning.

Hoss, I would snap it up, I have more than that in just my panels, I bought a new chute with head gate & palp cage and paid $2200.00 and found some 12 gauge 12' panels to make the alley for $80.00 each and I made a sweep from a HD 10' gate and 14 gauge HD panels. It works really well for me and the wife to work our small herd.

 if it was stolen it was years ago and the statute of limitations has expired. It looks like it has been in the same spot for 10 years. I think I will go get it this week.
