'Gonna bake a ham today . . .

. . . . no special occasion; just sounds good. AND I need to make some room in the freezer for the EASTER HAMS!! ON SALE!! that should be going on this week. I like to stock up on a few around this time every year.

Sounds good, what is some of your side dishes, I love scallop potatoes and ham, ham and cheese omelet, ham and cheese sandwich, hamburger with a slice of ham and cheddar......

Thanks for the reminder on hams on sale, have one in the freezer now but always room for ham!

All that . . . and Navy beans & ham. Hubby's favorite. He could eat it every day of the week, but if he did, I'd have to move him out to the barn.

Sounds good! I have a few hanging now. In twelve days they go on the smoke. I'm so glad I am not prohibitted from eating pork. I'd probably go blow myself up or do something else stupid like that. Probably be ill with the world.

We had a special on pork the other day at our grocer. I'm puzzled how they can sell it so cheap. Heck, I can't raise it and butcher it for what they were selling it for.

Did scalloped taters and ham tonight. And it was good.

Bought a big ham at Safeway yesterday (99 cents/lb.) -- had them cut it in half, and into the freezer. Will do another one this week. That will keep us in ham until Christmas.

Thinking ham & asparagus quiche, next, for left-overs.

Fixed Ham and Asparagus Quiche for dinner tonight, using this recipe:

If you are a French chef, it may not be your perfect dish. But it was easy, fast, and tasted great, with some sour cream as a condiment! I used Bisquick for the dry mix; fresh asparagus and a bit of chopped carrot that I steamed with onion before adding it all together (hubby doesn't like crunchy veggies). This will make 2 big pie pans full, and it took 5 minutes longer than the recipe called for to get it done. It's a "keeper" recipe for me. :)

Gonna have ham dinner for Easter I love the dinner but the leftover dishes momma makes are great too.already got visions of ham mac and cheese , gonna have to try that quiche, and then my favoite splitpea and ham soup. Checked yesterday don't have any asparagus yet how bout you Kath.

Just over the hill in fruit country -- either 40 miles or 65 miles, depending on which "apple capitol of the State of Washington" you pick -- there should be asparagus coming up in the orchards and on the ditch banks, Gonzo. But pretty hard to find it growing wild here in hay country. It's on sale at Safeway for $1.38/lb., so it didn't hurt too bad. It's easy for me to resist when it's $3/lb. Since it will just be the 2 of us here tomorrow, and the good Lord doesn't really care WHAT we eat on Easter, I'll break down and brew up a pot of Navy beans & ham for the Mr.

Still have one full pan of quiche in the fridge, but that won't make it through the day! Too good.

Sounds like yer my kind of cook Kathie. You cook a lot like my Grandma and believe me that's a good thing :tiphat:
