Do you need to use as many gomer bulls as you would breeding bulls? In other words, if you had 100 cows and used 3 breeders, would you need 3 gomer bulls for good heat detection?

If you are going to be there to watch the cows you don't need a gomer, maybe. Since I started using a gomer I get 100% heat detection, Before I missed several. I found a cow marked yesterday morning that I had seen no signs of heat on the evening before. By 9:00 AM she was no longer standing.
I assume you would have a marker on the bull, if you do not it may defeat the purpose.
As to quantity, it would be determined on how tight your breeding season is. For 100 cows in the same month, with 1 gomer, you are going to miss some and your going to have to IV that gomer with some nutrients just to keep him going. It is just as important to maintain condition on a gomer as any other bull. 100 cows at least 2, and that is a little less than 2 cows per day, per gomer, if they come in evenly. Which they won't.
