Going Fishing

My son is heading to Sebastian FL. in the morning. Going to catch some Kingfish and I hope a few Cobia.

The rays were thick a week ago. Azaleas were blooming before that last cold spell. That usually means the Cobia are either here or close to being here. Kings were doing real well last few weeks in 40-60 ft.

I would imagine a hillbilly like you get on some real water you would be the chum Captain.

:lol2: :lol2: :lol2: Your probably right. Most time in a boat for me has been a 12' flat bottom on pond or river, with a paddle or a minntonka :D . But that sure does look like a good time.

Flat bottom it is a great time if you don't get sea sick. I have seen people pray to die they were so sick.
If you ever decide to go offshore be sure to find out if you do before getting on an offshore charter. They don't care if you do die just use you for bait. It is not the storms that get most it is those 4 to 6 foot swell's that just keep rolling through.

In another topic here today, I discussed how I had been to Florida in the early 90's working. Well, my vacation to the panhandle was in 2002. Wife and babies stayed at the rent house while me and boys hired a fishing guide for a day. It was a great time. I didn't hurl, but I sure did have an appreciation for such a large body of water, and how those guys make a living. I modeled a minnow trap after the one I seen our guide using. The thing I could not understand is why the guide insisted on baiting my hook. I'm sure they deal with all kinds :lol2:

I felt like I was being treated like royalty. I kept telling him I was just white trash from Arkansas, but he insisted. We were staying in a house near Mexico City beach. I don't remember the name of the town or place we met up with the guide, but it was about an hour drive east of Mexico City. He even cleaned and packaged the fish for us. First and only time anybody ever semi-prepared fish or game for me

Yep, he was. It was the most expensive meat I've ever bought, but the experience and memories were worth every penny. My youngest boy (at that time) caught an urchin (I think that's what the guide said, and I don't know if thats the correct spelling). I just remember my boy saying "Hey Dad, I just caught a baby porcupine" :lol2: That moment was worth the entire cost of that adventure
