We have 33 heifers majority October and November of 24 I went way back on some matings this year there is a Charlo out of the G31 cow that is a stunner her maternal sister 307 was the high selling heifer at the Maternal Gems Sale. I have three Leachman Sautahatchee 3000 heifers that are mighty nice and a OCC Juneau 807 that I'm watching. Then there is a nice selection of SAV Rainfall daughters a SAV Grass Roots that is pretty sporty a few Square B Atlantis that are eye popping. Then we AId to one of our old bulls Coleman EXT 6149 he is a female maker supreme. The herd sire daughters are out of some excellent bulls 234 a Charlo son out of our deceased donor 0524, 2011 another Charlo son out of C83 a double bred Bridget and 2034 a Gizmo Boss son out of a multiple pathfinder dam that worked in our herd for 16 years. I'm sure I missed some that should are worthy of mention but my old brain doesn't retain like it once did.How many and what age are they ?
Sounds like some future herd builders .We have 33 heifers majority October and November of 24 I went way back on some matings this year there is a Charlo out of the G31 cow that is a stunner her maternal sister 307 was the high selling heifer at the Maternal Gems Sale. We just haven’t had any disposition issues with Charlo. Now SAV President was another story we had a few that were really nastyA very nice set of heifers. Have you had any docility issues with the Charlo progeny? I have seen enough that I stay away from them. I had already AIed a cow to loodline. Got an outstanding heifer. So far no issues with her.
Thanks for the reply. I find it interesting how the results vary so much in different herds using the same sire. He wasn’t used heavy in this area but a few of the better breeders used him on a limited basis 4-5 years ago. All I seen used him on cows with known good docility. All I seen would go to the backside of the pen when you walked up. The rest of their pen mates would stand there and look at you. I decided we don’t need that in our herd.We just haven't had any disposition issues with Charlo. Now SAV President was another story we had a few that were really nasty
I understand I've seen that with other bulls that were not noted for disposition issues.. SAV Reign was another that we had bad docility issues with and should be noted President and Reign are Charlo sons so I guess here it just skipped a generationThanks for the reply.
