My dad spends a lot of time on the computer & his all time favorite gift from me is a mouse pad. Seriously. I downloaded a picture of him giving me a bear hug on the Wal Mart photo page and it turned out great. Except he refuses to use it - has it propped up next to his computer . Had no idea something that cost around $10 would mean so much.

Well we had a surprise birthday party for my dad a couple of years ago and he still talks about it. All of his kids and grandkids in one place at one time at his house, he loved it.

If he enjoys working on equipment, and likes to look at different pieces of equipment, give him a card with a "gift ticket" inside that says he is entitled to a trip to some farm machinery show or something like the Corn Husker days or somewhere he might like to go and TAKE HIM. Spend the time with him, we don't know how long we have together so make it count.

Gifts and trinkets are commercialized at birthdays as much as the are at Christmas. bah humbug..... Do something that really means something to him. Yes it will probably mean giving of yourself and your family, but mostly it's just a little time in the big scheme of things.

Yes that would probably be the best thing. We spend a lot of time together already. He helps me every evening check the cows or whatever Iam up to on the farm. He's semi retired and his office is at the house so he's always waiting for me to pull into the barn lot.
