I know this will get people fired up but it's good for discussion.
I have visited with different breeders in the past and the topic of genetic purity comes along. Their sole purpose is to maintain breed purity. These breeders want to avoid bulls who according to their beliefs aren't genetically pure.
Agree or not that is fine. They will not use genetics with the following bulls in the pedigree.........anywhere they will search it back a long ways. Now think about your herd and how many animals you might have that don't go back to these certain bulls.
Pine Drive, Bando 598, New Trend, Schearbrook Shoshone, Krugerrand and of course the old rotten bulls Harrison, Spock, Chairman.
The list isn't that extensive but go through and find cattle that don't have these genetics in them.
It's tough!
