After posting to the thread with the Monty Python clip and thinking about "The live of Brian", I had to listen to "Always look on the bright side of life", that got me to more youtube stuff and Jimmie Rodgers, the original. I just spent the last hour and something listening to his songs again. That got me to remember that I have a 12 CD set of everything he ever recorded. So I guess I know what I'll be listening to when I'm on the tractor for the next couple of days.
 
My dad really liked Jimmy Rodgers. On a family vacation we were driving through Meridian, Mississippi some 20 odd years ago and he wanted to visit the Jimmy Rodgers museum there, but when we got to it we were disappointed to find it was closed that day.

I don;t have any one favorite. There are a couple that I don;t care for as much as others. But I have never heard one that I disliked.
The CDs I have are kind of intersting. They start with just him and a quitar and throw the (too few) years a little bit of brass later some went to almost a full orchestra. Then by the time he died it was back to the guitar and maybe a bit of banjo.

Yep It do if you drink it out of a turpentine cup. Got mighty thirsty quail hunting as a youngster walking 3 or 4 miles around fields and through the woods toting a 12 gauge. Turpentine cups hung on trees all over the place back then. Rainwater would collect in them right along with the pine sap.

I still think of Country and Western as two different things. People have graced us with a lot of old videos. Catch some Bob Wills too.

Now that's old school Slick. I had the pleasure of meeting "Brother" Al Strickland in 1980 or '81 when he was up there in years. He had a lot if great Bob Wills stories to share.
