City slicker, looking at the corral;" Thats a funny cow! why does't it have horns?"
Cattleman(patiently); "There are two reasons for cows not having horns, some are bred to not develop horns, we call them polled cattle. Some breeds that have horns have their horn buds cauterised when they are young calves so do not grow horns." "That particular cow doesn't have horns because it is a HORSE!"

Funny andybob, but, that scenario has probably, actually, and truly occured thousands of times!

Alrighty then!

We have two Highland cows and it never ceases to amaze me how many time people think they are the bulls because the have big horns. Somehow the fact the Highland is feeding a calf and standing beside a bull with large testicles doesn't mean anything... ;-)

lol... I guess Highland's are like Longhorns: They can only have 1 or 2 calves b/c the horns tear up the insides of the cows during pregnancy or birth.

The editor of the South African "Farmer's Weekly" tells the story of a young woman hired in the compiling department, who edited out the testicles on the colour pictures of the champion show bulls- there was almost a riot when the owners saw their pride and joy emasculated on the show pages of the national magazine!

I don't doubt for a moment that it's true, but this statement just kills me! :o   It reminds me the story of the city-dwelling person who stated 'what do I care if the dairy farmers go out of business, I get my milk at the grocery store'.

The sad thing is that there are more people in this country that believe this than not.
