Haven't tried either, but from the descriptions, I think I'd take ramps over pon hoss anyday!

not sure I would like to try either, by the sounds of them, I don't like anything hot like chillies, and I only like lambs liver, pigs is to strong a taste for me.....but thanks for explaining.

if or when we come over to America again we will be visiting Virginia, as I have a cousin who lives there.

you got that right Katherine...a big plate of pon hoss with some ramps on the side :D ...now thats what I call a good meal :)

you should try pon hoss...my grandchildren loved it until I told them what it was made off...then they didn't eat it for a week...then my wife was cooking some of it up...and they couldn't resist it...they had to go start eating it again :D

We have gone from a good day at work to crappy cops to pon hoss and ramps... I love this place!

Oh come on guys. :P Are we expecting our police to have mind reading abilities? maybe perfect character evaluation skills? You've got a young'un in a store with blood splattered all over his shirt, maybe face and arms too, and you expect everyone to just glance at him and know instantly he was working hard all morning dehorning calves? :lol: If the police hadn't stopped him I'd be pretty concerned about the condition of our police force!

Sounds like they were offering helpful advice by telling him it'd be a good idea to change before going anywhere else - although it seems like a no-brainer at that point, LOL - doesn't sound like harrassment to me. And it probably would have been a good idea to change into something clean pronto, rather than continuing the course through the store, scaring little old ladies half to death. :lol:

But then I've never been accused of doing a perfect job picking up subtle hints - maybe I'm reading it all wrong.

I agree! Youth with blood all over him merits a conversation. Kind of what we pay the police for, to be observant of something that looks out of place and blood soaked shirt fits that situation.

Farmboy - I'm from WV and you're on the border - what in the world is "pon hoss" ? I never heard of it - of course you might not know about ramps either ?

and I forgot the last part of your post...come on Bullbuyer...dont insult me about the ramps :D ...used to pick ramps all the time when I was a youngin...if I had a stomach ache...my mother would tell me to eat some ramps...if I had a headache...my mother told me to eat more ramps...I guess she thought it was a cure all...never seemed to work but it tasted mighty fine...we'd pick as many as we could find and freeze them so we could have em all year...ramps with bacon and eggs in the morning... :D ...got my mouth watering now...I cant believe you insulted my intelligence bullbuyer :( :lol: ...I got 62 years of Appalachian intelligence :D ...of course I know what ramps are

A thousand apologies to Heritage for questioning his Appalachian Culinary knowledge!! Personally, I try to avoid ramps and those that have been partaking of them. I think this pon hoss stuff must be somewhat related to scrapple. I don't think scrapple uses intestines though !?!?

:D ...you're from southern WV and you try to avoid ramps??? :shock: ...and I think scrapple might just be another name for pon hoss...I aint sure...it always been called pon hoss where i'm from...and intestines are one of the best parts of the pon hoss :D
