I had a real bad experience with Willis Orchards. Then I checked the BBB and found out they are a total mess. Wish I would have checked them out before I ordered. There's a long post in here somewhere about my experience.
 
I did eventually get a full refund, less shipping costs. They did not send what I had ordered and wanted to argue about what I wanted. Hours on the phone in frustration. Boysenberries do not have thorns. All of theirs do. :lol:
 
Thanks backhoe lol... Thats funny I talked to them this morning willis that is and almost all of there trees you need to plant 2 together which I didn't really want to do so now im in my gurneys catalog looking at self polinating trees lol
 
Bob Wells nursery out of Tyler Texas sent me out boysenberries after I had opted out of what Willis sent me. I spent a few more nickels but got exactly what I wanted.

I googled boysenberry plants and Willis comes up immediately. I should have checked deeper into the situation prior to ordering. It was just a lesson learned for me.

Look a the bright side. You asked. I didn't but wished I would have. I was in a time crunch to get the plants in the ground and was almost too late. It worked out.
 
Fruit trees are a lot of work. I had some and they all lived through the first year. But the spray schedule is endless and my grafted semi dwarf trees reverted to the genetics in the root. I got maybe one apple and a couple of peaches for my considerable effort. Over 10 yrs.
I imagine you already know this. Just explaining why no one will ever sell me a fruit tree.

gotcha backhoe... john yes i know I bought a peach tree that already had peaches on it and was loaded from Southern States and planted last fall so hopefully it will bear fruit this year. I paid 70.00 for that tree. Yes, Me of all people know how much a P.I.T.A. trees can be lol.
 
Use Adams County Nursery in PA. I used them last year for 25 trees. They were all over 1/2" and 5 feet and averaged about 12 bucks a tree. 25 is the price break. They have a great website and great customer service. if you dont see it on the website they will tell you what they have that is similar. They have great reviews all over the internet.
 
Shady I looked at the website and they want 30 bucks per tree under ordering 25

Every county here does. Not sure about your end of the state. It also allows us to graft many of the heirloom varities that are not available to buy any more. The agent takes care of ordering the root stock and all the related needs. All this is done at a very minimal cost to us. If I remember right it might end up costing us $2 -$3 per tree. Dont quote me on that one but worth checking on.
 
Gotcha. Yea you talking about Mike the ext agent. I only have mature trees that have been there a long time mostly blk walnut trees a pear and some crab apples
 
Yeah they are pricey under 25. I figured if i was gonna have to spray and take care of I might as way make it worth it. I put them in 80 x120 spot next to the house. They all looked good until some goats got out and ate all the leaves. They are all still alive but set back a year probably. I have 12 peaches, 6 apples, 3 pears, 2 plums and 2 cherries. All the catalogs my neighbors ordered out of the trees looked like crap. See if a neighbor wants any to go in with you.
 
Yea, I asked my mom about that she said she may want some but she orderd trees from gurneys and they are 5 years old and are already producing some fruits. I was surprised. I did see a tree thats supposed to have multiple fruits I may buy just to see how it goes.
 
Cottage That is the other thing I have to look at is low chill trees I spoke to gurneys and they suggested 200-400 chill hour trees which would be the best for me. I think thats about right what do you think for my area?
 
Looks like you're zone 7? 200-400 would sound safe. I've never lived in a zone 7 though so I'm guessing. You'll want to try to calculate the number of hours in the winter that your temps are under about 42 degrees. The one you had linked needed 900 hrs. I figured if you could grow pomegranates, that 900 hrs for that apple sounded questionable.
