Freedom's not easy America's paid her debt,
In lives and limbs of some forgotten Vet.
Our capitol's been burned our flags been torn,
Many men died defending it, their lives we mourn.
After the battle of Fort McHenry in Chesapeake Bay,
Francis Scott Key wrote the words we still hear today.
During the battle of Iwo Jima, many came home in a body bag,
But our soldiers fought on and raised our flag.
The invasion of Omaha and Utah Beach,
Insured us freedom was once again within reach.
Sucker punched in Pearl Harbor, many lives were lost,
But reassured there are men and women defending us at all cost.
That day in November, when those twin towers fell,
Americas fighting forces retaliated and unleashed hell.
Some are fighting today in a faraway land,
Protecting our freedoms in Afghanistan.
Standing in somber looking at those Arlington crosses,
Reminds us of our sacrifices and the extent of our losses.
All those names carved into the wall,
Shows the price we paid, some gave it their all.
If you're reading these words and haven't done so yet,
Count your blessings, and give credit to a Vet

Thanks to the Vets to our north as well. Bez comes to mind but I know there are others as well.
