have a 6-8 mth old pup that chews on any and everthing in the yard any one have any idea why also how do you stop this destructive habit? pup belongs to my two grandsons so getting rid of the pup is not a option
you can't stop it but you might be able to distract it by giving something "approved" to chew on and making its access to other things more difficult (kennel or run)
I have read that when dogs do this they may be bored, but more likely, he's just teething like any other baby. I'm with Hippie. Give him toys and rawhide to chew on, scold him when he's chewing on anything else and praise him when he has his "toys.
Being a terrier, he'll have to "kill" everything in sight. But as has been stated, provide a diversion like the chew toys. Pups sure are trouble, but the enjoyment they give outweighs the burden.
