I've got a Ford 6600 that we use for cutting and baling hay. Yesterday the PTO didn't seem to want to engage when I had the haybine hooked up. It finally did and I cut all day but it's got me worried something is wrong. Does anyone know if there is an adjustment or something on these PTO levers or know of some other problem that might cause it to not want to engage?

I had a ford 5600 that had a issue with some kind of pto break that went bad and no matter when you started the tractor and the pto lever was in off position the pto shaft would spin but if you hooked up an attachment to the pto shaft it wouldnt spin but when you cut on the pto it would spin as it should. May be something with that braking portion of the pto

Have a 7600 like that.Pull lever then have to wind it up some to get PTO moving.Don't know the cause.

May be a filter plugged or a pump getting weaker :?:
Have you checked your hydraulic fluid level and/or filter?
