Are elk worse than moose on fences? I swear moose just walk up and down the fenceline destroying things for the fun of it.

I would guess Moose are worse. I have zero experience with Moose. All I know is they taste good and I’d like to put one in my freezer. Do they jump?

After 2 mild winters the deer are thick here. We need a good harsh winter to knock the population back.

CWD or bluetongue has quite the effect as well when populations get too dense.

A harsh long winter will knock the population back faster than anything. Not uncommon to see a deer yard with hundreds to a thousand dead deer come spring.

Probably doesn't stink as bad as kills like that during the summer. About 6-7 years ago, all the feed stores ran out of lime. 70-80-120.....etc. deer dead on farm after farm after farm......in July through September here. Not enough buzzards.

Elk are worse just because of their numbers. When a herd of elk get spooked they tend to flatten fences and break wires. Wires tend to get dragged out into the bush.
I would bet if moose traveled in bunches of 200 or more it would be a different story.
