Fired Paula Deen.
Supposedly for using the N word and having a Civil War themed wedding.
This has gone to far people need to grow up and get a thicker skin.
If you don't like her change the channel. He!! I have been called everything under the sun and would really rather know how you feel. This walking around backslapping when you can't stand each other is BS.
PC correctness has runamuck in this country.

It's only bad if a white person says it.
What's sad is the public lynching she's getting over it. By people who have said the same word I'm sure. Her deposition didn't ask when she said it, only if she had ever.

Listen to some of these rap songs. Why can they call each other that name but it is not all right for a white person to whisper it? What is the definition of "equal rights". If they can use that "word" everyone should be able to use it!

I'm just glad she's finally not going to make any new programs that I'll have to turn off. Can;t stand the woman

Since she grew up in Albany Georgia, the Detroit of the South, I'm pretty sure she knew how to use the word properly.

If you don't like her you still have to respect her because she is totally self-made starting with nothing. To this day I still think she would have made a good match for Jim Baker after he and Tammie split up.

The deposition was regarding either a sexual or racial harassment claim against her. She may or may not be guilty of the charge and she really may or may not deserve to lose her position with the Food Network. The food network is one of those frilly, liberal things best I can tell. (they sell to those types, not that the owners and management are liberal). I'm sure, right or wrong, TFN feared losing viewers which means they lose sponsor and advertising dollars. I'm pretty sure they would have had research that said standing behind PD would cost them so many viewers and so many dollars while cutting her loose would cost x amount. They do the math - PD gets fired from TFN. Had she been working for Fox, she'd have gotten a raise, a better time slot or a promotion. It's the audience.

It's not like corporations say to themselves or anyone else "ours be made of brass and dam(n) our consumers and our customers and most of all, dam(n) our owners, dam(n) the cost, we're going politically incorrect." Instead they simply ask "what's this mean to my cash flow, my bottom line, my profit and loss, short and long term." If pushing back looks more profitable, they'll beat their chest and declare to the world "we got a pair" otherwise, they'll do exactly what The Food Network has done.

Any other course of action gets people fired.

She had already gotten some bad PR about her diabetes and her diet. I think had she confessed for her buttery sins and pledged to go vegan she could have rode high till she died and we would see mouth watering dishes made from tofu and lentils.

I personally think no one should say it.. The whole racism no matter white black green yellow blue is ridiculous and out of hand ...

I am an old white man that was raised in the South I have said it and heard it all my life I am going to continue to say it
when it applies.
Just like I am going to say you are white cracker trash when it applies. No apologies if you don't like it and a bulldozer didn't follow you here the road you came in on is not tore up.

I personally believe that no matter what race you are if you have to use derogatory racial slurs against someone else or your own race its a sign of a weak mind and lack of education/vocabulary... because there is many other words someone could use to describe a person.

That's your right to believe what you want.
When I walk in Walmart and that is all I hear from crack head's living in public housing the shoe fit's.
Just like the white trash covered in tattoo's with half a dozen pit bull's chained to a cinder block in the front yard smoking crack and drinking beer, pulling the Lone Star card to to feed a half dozen snotty nosed kid's that will be the next generation ward's of the state the shoe fit's again.

Exactly I wish everyone would agree with think what you want believe what you want like you CB the world would be a better place... I remember getting calls when I was doing law enforcement to peoples homes and people called me racist names it was funny to me one case sticks out in my head a caucasion couple had a domestic situation and my partner had the hubby on one side of the room and i was talking to his wife on the other he yelled out are you f-ing that N-ER too referring to me and I turned around and said no it wasn't the N-er side of me doing your wife it was the cherokee side of me lol I know it was wrong to have said that but I couldn't resist.

Sky there is a big difference in a N and a Black man in my book just like there is a big differece in white trash and a White man.
We have coddled the low life of our society till they are becoming the majority. If you act like animal's I don't care what color they are they don't deserve my respect or my tax dollar's to support them.
I am all for helping those in need I feel it's time to take out the trash in America and quit feeding the hog's dragging down our society at the trough.

Completely agree CB ... I could have this convo with you over dinner at my table and wouldnt get offended or mad but if you said the same to some others they would get bent out of shape lol I wouldn't even think anything of it. I am a open book to anything.

Skyhigh, I have always enjoyed your post and our back and fourth. But on this post your tolerance has gained you my highest level of respect! You are a good man! :tiphat:

Alan

Just quit doing wheelies on your bike with the children's mama on the back.

Alan, Greatly appreciate that comment more than you can imagine and also enjoy the back and fourth...I am gonna stop the wheelies with me on it too lol

If the word insults someone then the word served its purpose because they should be ashamed to have that label. If I use the words white trash you have a clear understanding of what I'm talking about just as you do when I use the N word. Heck, the blacks I know know exactly what the N word means and they use it just as I do.

I recently went to a small British island and met many blacks who really impressed me. Next door they were building a large hotel and 80% of the people working on the hotel were black. I spoke to some of the workers about how they were doing masonry and stucco and they were very helpful and very intelligent and very hard working and they spoke better English than I did. Quite frankly, I was in awe at their work ethic and how they worked like a well oiled machine and I was intrigued because I have never seen so many blacks working in my life. All I see are these young men walking down the street with their britches hanging around their knees and a hand on their crotch bragging and these young single brood mares standing in line with their EBT cards in hand.

If you think I am a racist so be it but before you judge me I welcome you to immerse yourself in my world and see first hand what I'm talking about - or watch that Hardcore Pawn show. Even the blacks on the island said the American blacks are sorry as $hit when they have every opportunity in the world laid at the feet. (their words not mine)

I will treat everyone fairly and equally but my respect doesn't come with an EBT card and you have to earn it. If someone has no more respect for their children, their race or their country then I have little use for them and they deserve to be called white trash, spic, wop or the word we can't speak. Oh, and that word is derived from latin and French so maybe it doesn't show ignorance after all.

I will admit that after talking to the guys on the island I began to feel a bit guilty about some of my "racist" views and upon reflection I thought I'd start out on a new enlightened foot when I got home. Upon arrival back to the States we had a small tribe bust in line like it was owed them. Also, no sooner than I started to leave the parking deck at the airport had another one pull right out in front of me and almost caused a wreck. Then I knew I was home and I was no longer amongst black people.

While I am on my soapbox and am well past getting this thread locked I'll also add that I was really disappointed in Obama when he had the perfect opportunity to become the much needed leader in the black community by saying look what someone can accomplish in America if you try. He had the perfect opportunity to heal any racial riff and set an example to the black community. Instead, he did just the opposite and continued to blame others and play the race card. I guess he knew that whenever someone from the black community rises up and mentions the words self reliance and personal accountability they are labled a sell out or an Uncle Tom and if a white person does the same they are labeled a racist.

I still maintain I am not a racist. Heck, much to the dismay of some of the neighbors I rented a house to a mixed couple. They were good people but some of the neighbors had strong words with me but feck em. Good people are good people no matter the color of the skin and sorry is sorry. I just hate sorry people and if you want to see some sorry blacks I can show you a passle. Can also show you some sorry whites too and I'll continue to use whatever adjectives best describes the person. (and feel free to call me a racist if you choose)
