fly repelent?

If you can find it, I would suggest Pirahna. It works on almost all flies, plus gnats, and mosquitos(sp?). It has a kill speed of a second or two (you will actually see the flies drop in that time frame), and a good residual. It is not cheap, though - it runs $45.00/half gallon here - and it can only be purchased through a distributor. They appear to have taken down their website, so check with your local farriers, vets, feed stores, etc.

If you want a natural non-insecticide(ie: organic), Crystal Creek(888) 376-6777, has a product called No-Fly. The oil base version will keep the flies off for 2-3 weeks per application.

does anyone have a suggestion on what fly repelent i should use on my yearling heifer? with a Descent price?

For just one or two I would use Permethrin powder 10%.
I just bought some and it works great.
Now if you want to save some extra bucks read the contents on the bag, take it over to the garden section, compare it with vegtable dust. I found the same exact same stuff at about 1/2 the price.
